The Douwne Muller Fund

Douwne Muller is a 19 year old South African girl who was in car accident in March of 2005. She broke her neck after being ejected from the vehicle, and was rendered a quadriplegic. Initially we were told “there is no hope”, but she has proven everybody wrong. By the grace of God she is not a complete spinal cord injury, but an incomplete, which makes her prognosis better. HealthSouth Harmarville (healthsouth.com) in Pittsburgh is a rehabilitation facility that has an Auto Ambulator (autoambulator.com). This is a device which allows patients to move their legs in an ambulatory manner. This has been shown to increase the function of spinal cord injury patients. They also have other rehabilitation modalities such as hand therapy, which can help teach her do things like wash her face and brush her teeth. HealthSouth Harmarville is truly an exceptional facility, and they are willing to help us with Douwne’s rehabilitation. They suggested a month of inpatient rehab and then a month of outpatient rehab. We need to raise $30,000 for Douwne in order to get her to Pittsburgh from South Africa and to cover some of the rehab costs.

She is a wonderful person who inspires everybody around her. Please help us help her.
Donations of any amount would be so greatly appreciated. Please find it in your heart.
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
